Patagonia Outfitters International Program

If you are dreaming of a bonefish paradise the Bahamas is your promised land. With nearly 20,000 acres of flats the Bahamas is the largest area for bonefish on the planet. Crooked Island and Acklins form an atoll of over 230 square miles. Located on the extreme southwest section of the archipelago, less than 100 Km from the coast of Cuba, Crooked Island, Acklins and Long Cay make the ideal wading area for big bonefish and permit. Strong trigger fish are also common on the coral flats and are eager to take crab or shrimp patterns readily. Resident baby tarpon can be found permanently in some lagoons but the big tarpon will show up mainly during the spring and summer. You’ll also have a chance of catching barracudas up to 50 lb, sharks, snappers, jacks and snooks as well as pelagic wahoo, tuna and dorado.

The guides are all natives of the atoll and they have unsurpassed knowledge of the area like no one else. It is safe to say that the area is unaffected by fishing pressure.

The lodge is simple and comfortable. Its perfect location makes it the only lodge that allows you to fish the best area of Crooked Island and Acklins in the same week! It is run by a very friendly couple and consists of 5 large double bedrooms, all equipped with air conditioning, bathroom, sitting area, refrigerator, and TV. Another building serves as a restaurant and bar where cold beer will be waiting for your return from the flats. The food is made of fresh products and local specialties such as the famous conch salad. In all, you will find Crooked Island and Acklins to be the ideal atoll fishing that is well preserved and shielded from mass tourism.

The lodge gives access to a large part of the vast lagoon where colonies of pink flamingos are breeding in season. Many areas are a snorkeler’s heaven; beachgoers will fall in love with the fine sand and many a coral cave is waiting to be discovered in the hills. There are quite a few blue holes in the lagoon, some of which are connected to the open ocean, miles away!

We can organize excursions to some of the smaller cays that are home to iguanas and ospreys, as well as fish hawks that have their nesting areas here. Speaking of fish, the waters are teeming with all sorts of interesting fish species, of course.

Welcome to our natural paradise!
