Chimehuin River

River House Lodge is a cozy, elegant lodge with 5-star service, located in perfect striking distance to some of the best fly fishing rivers in Patagonia.

The lodge is ideally situated on the banks of the Chimehuin River between the cities of San Martin de los Andes and Junin de los Andes, only a 15 minute drive to the airport. For many years, it was managed as part of Tipiliuke Lodge. Starting in 2021, it is now available as its own destination. And with good reason! It is one of the finest lodging and dining experiences in Argentina, and its location is hard to beat anywhere.

River House Lodge is surrounded by incredible trout fisheries. The most popular is the world-famous Chimehuin River, which allows for incredible fly fishing throughout the season, both by floating and wading. In addition, guests of River House Lodge enjoy exploring other nearby rivers – including the Malleo River, Collon Cura River, and lakes such as Lolog Lake, Lacar Lake, Huechulafquen Lake, and Tromen Lake. With all of these destinations so near the lodge, it is no wonder this is a favorite spot for anglers wishing to see a broad range of Patagonia landscapes and places.

Guests enjoy a first-class experience, accommodated in one of five luxurious suites at the lodge. Their chef works magic each evening with classic Argentine meals accompanied by fine local wines. Non-anglers are very welcome here as well. Optional daily activities include trekking, yoga, massages, mountain biking, rafting, golfing, even cooking and tango lessons.

After a long and productive day on the water, River House Lodge is the perfect place to sit back with a cool drink while gazing out at the vastness of the Patagonian steppe and listening to the sound of the Chimehuin River just a cast away.

Custom Itineraries

Every Patagonia Outfitters Itinerary is fully customize-able. Our team has been organizing memorable fishing adventures in Argentina for nearly 40 years, and will work with you to build the perfect itinerary. Some guests choose to spend a full week at Estancia Pilolil, taking advantage of its ideal location. Other guests will often begin or end their trip here, combining Pilolil with a stay at one (or more) of our other partner lodges and estancias, overnight camping trips, or other non-angling travel in Argentina such as wine-tasting in Mendoza or touring the famous Iguazu Falls.
All of our trips begin or end with domestic flights from Buenos Aires to either Bariloche or San Martin de los Andes. We will meet you at the airport and take care of you for the duration of your stay with us in northern Patagonia.

Accommodations

River House is charming house, ideal for groups of friends or families. This elegant and sophisticated house has five double bedrooms with private bathroom plus comfortable living and dining rooms. The house is in a very secluded and peaceful spot, about a 100-yard walk from the Chimehuín River. River House is also a great place for guests who may be traveling with non-fishing spouses or the more casual fisher-person. Horseback rides and treks as well as sightseeing or even shopping tours can be arranged due to its proximity to San Martín de los Andes.
