TROCOMAN RIVER CAMP

We discovered this exciting new fishery in the fall of 2021. Good friends invited us to visit the Estancia El Morado in Northern Neuquen Province. We were looking for a place to combine horseback riding with fishing. What we found was so much more.

Estancia El Morado encompasses 50,000 acres of Patagonia wilderness. Freshwater springs bubble up from countless places across the estancia, giving birth to a series of lakes and lagunas and several spectacular trout streams. Rainbow trout, brown trout, and brook trout can all be found here, and since they’ve been behind locked gates forever they are unsophisticated trout that have never seen a fly before.

Neuquen is a beautiful, remote part of northern Patagonia. It is not as well-known as the fisheries around Bariloche and San Martin de los Andes, so it is still rare to see any other fishermen here. And especially on the exclusive, private Estancia El Morado, you will have all of the streams, lakes, and lagunas entirely to yourself.

Trocoman River Camp is perfect for small groups of 4-6 anglers. Guests will stay in comfortable wilderness tented camps, using spacious outfitter-style canvas tents with two guests per tent.  The camps will have all the comforts of a wilderness safari-style camp, with a dining tent, well-appointing private toilet facilities, and a camp shower. All tents, cots, sleeping pads, linens, pillows, towels, sheets and blankets are provided.

Guests fish with two anglers to a guide, utilizing a combination 4×4 vehicle, ATV, or hiking to access the nearly limitless fishing opportunities on the estancia. For those guests interested in riding horses, we can have the gauchos arrange horse-packing into the more remote areas of the estancia.

Trocoman River Camp is easily combined with Estancia Pilolil on the famous Allumine River, or any of Patagonia Outfitters other well-known destinations in the region.
